Prepare Yourself!

Before you go bird watching in Alaska, you’re going to want to get all of your things ready so that you’ll be prepared for both watching the birds and taming the wilderness. If you’ve been bird watching before (especially in colder weather), you probably have your own gear prepared, but if you’re new to bird watching, we’d like to provide you with some recommendations on things to bring:

  • Warm clothes

  • Another layer of clothes

  • A third layer of clothes (seriously – it’s cold outside!)

  • Waterproof boots

  • A rain jacket with a hood

  • Binoculars

  • A camera

  • An extra memory card, if necessary

  • Insect repellent

  • A field guide or bird list
