With your line in the water, you sit back and take in the views around you. Beautiful sprawling Alaskan wilderness surrounds you, and vast panoramic mountain and forest views are visible from every angle. You wade as the waves rush around your legs and as you scan the shallow streams around you it finally happens. You feel the tug on your line as that prized fish goes for the bait and the fight begins. The season of catching Alaska freshwater fish is finally here, and we are excited to get things underway here at Afognak Wilderness Lodge.
Our Favorite Season
Though saltwater fishing can be a fun adventure, our freshwater season is here! As the salmon begin to make their ways back into our freshwater streams and rivers to spawn, we are breaking out the best of our gear and hitting the water. We have all the gear you need, but if you have specific equipment that you prefer to use, you are more than welcome to bring along your own. Along with rainbow trout, steelheads, and dolly varden, you will be able to find 3 of the five species of Alaskan salmon in our area. Snag you daily limits of Sockeye, Pink, and Silver salmon when you fish with us.
Reeling Them In
When it comes to reeling in those monster catches, finding better waters that ours is slim to none. We have the perfect nooks and secluded areas that you will not need to compete with other anglers for. Wade in the shallows or stand on the shore, you will be sure to find the perfect spot you will love. Though you can keep fish, you can also choose to catch and release. If you decide to bring your Alaska freshwater fish home, we can freeze and package it all for easy travel home.
